Happy Patch Tuesday! This month's patches consist of four updates but they correct 22 issues. Most of these fixes apply to various versions of Microsoft Windows but one of the updates is for Microsoft Visio 2003.
Many of these issues could allow a remote attacker to take complete control of your system. The attacker could then perform tasks on your computer like viewing, changing, and deleting information.
What these updates do:
These patches from Microsoft update several individual files involved in making Windows or Visio work.
These updates may apply to you if: you're running Windows 7, Vista, XP, and various Windows Server operating systems. Microsoft Visio 2003 is also effected.
More Information:
These are serious issues with Windows and Visio so you should apply all updates that affect your specific software or version of Windows. Some of these issues are categorized as Important and some others are listed as Critical.
In most cases, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the above Windows operating systems and software programs are affected.
Some updates will require that you restart your computer but some will not. If you use Windows Update to install these updates simultaneously, chances are you will need to restart.
Automatically install: via Windows Update.
Manually install: via the individual Security Bulletins listed here.
